The Frederick County Fire & Rescue Services Internship Program is offered to high school students by Frederick County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Services. Interested high school students must be at least 16 years of age, a member of a volunteer fire/rescue company AND pass a Frederick County Fire Department physical. If you are not currently a volunteer, we will gladly assist you in this process.
Our program supports fire and emergency service departments by fostering relationships and engaging youth in learning about, and ultimately becoming, members of the emergency services. The program serves as an umbrella for firefighter programs locally to promote youth participation within the fire and emergency services community.
Our program gives our youth the opportunity to learn about local fire, rescue, and emergency medical services in a safe, controlled, educational, and fun way and provides them with valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, responsibility, and commitment. It also provides the department with non-operational support.
