September is National Preparedness Month - “Preparedness is for Everyone”

FREDERICK, Md. - September is National Preparedness Month, a nationwide information campaign encouraging everyone to take simple steps to better prepare themselves, their homes, their businesses, and their communities to respond and recover from emergencies and disasters. Throughout the month, the Division of Emergency Management will promote public preparedness at a variety of community programs hosted by Frederick County Public Libraries.

“Preparedness is essential to a resilient Frederick County. National Preparedness Month offers an important reminder that all of us can take proactive steps to minimize the impact of an emergency or disaster,” said Director of Emergency Management, Anthony Rosano. “Whether it’s updating your emergency contact list, talking with your family about your emergency plan, or making copies of important documents, there is something everyone can do to be better prepared.”

• Monday, September 23 at 10:30 am, Emmitsburg Library Storytime
• Monday, September 23 at 11:00 am, Emmitsburg Library Preparedness Bingo
• Wednesday, September 25 at 10:30 am, Brunswick Library Storytime

Visitors to FrederickCountyMD.gov/Prepared can learn how to prepare for emergencies and disasters as well as sign up for AlertFC, Frederick County’s emergency notification system.
