During April, we recognize National Child Abuse Prevention Month (NCAPM) and the importance of communities working together to support and strengthen families and prevent child maltreatment.
Prevention services and supports developed by this collaboration can help parents, other caregivers, and communities protect children and strengthen families. Every child should grow up feeling safe and supported, yet sadly, half of the world's children experience violence every year. It's important to know that children in every country, every culture and at every social level can face various forms of violence and abuse.
To prevent abuse, teach children about healthy boundaries and body safety, encourage open communication and listening and promote nurturing environments.
