This month, we’re highlighting the simple, everyday charging habits that help prevent lithium ion battery fires in our homes and neighborhoods. From phones and laptops to e bikes and power tools, safe charging protects you, your family, and the entire community.
But fire prevention doesn’t stop with safety tips—it starts with people.
Our volunteers in Fire & Rescue play a vital role in educating the public, responding to emergencies, and keeping Frederick County safe. Their dedication ensures that prevention, readiness, and community support remain strong all year long.
Be a Safety Hero:
• Use manufacturer approved chargers
• Charge devices on hard, flat surfaces
• Unplug when fully charged
• Watch for signs of overheating or damage
• Charge larger devices outdoors and away from exits
